Pep Guardiola vs Ange Postecoglou: Complete head-to-head record

Image
"I'm just copying Pep, mate." Uttered with a backdrop of sarcasm, there's no doubt Ange Postecoglou would have taken offence to claims that the Australian's methodology has been taken straight out of the Pep Guardiola playbook. Like so many, Postecoglou has undoubtedly taken inspiration from the current Manchester City boss. Leaning towards Guardiola in the ideological spectrum is seemingly a prerequisite for managers to succeed at the elite level. Nevertheless, Ange's i NFL uences transcend the great Guardiola and can be traced back to the revolutionary Mighty Magyars of the 1950s given his close relationship with Ferenc Puskas. Unlike his Spanish counterpart, the Australian has been pushed back and doubted throughout his managerial career, but he's now arrived in the big time after taking on the daunting Spurs job. The early signs suggest we'll enjoy our fair share of duels between the two managers on English shores. Here's a reminder of how ever

"Big mistake" to hold MotoGP Valencia GP at 3pm, says Espargaro

KTM factory rider Jack Miller crashed out of the lead on lap 19, with Alex Rins, Augusto Fernandez and Enea Bastianini all ending up in the gravel in similar incidents. The cooler temperatures were in part due to the 2023 season finale taking part three weeks later than last year's race. The start time was also scheduled an hour later than its usual 2pm slot to avoid clashing with the beginning of Formula 1 's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Factory Aprilia rider Espargaro believes he would have "crashed the same" as Miller had he been leading the race given the "very cold" temperatures. "[It was a] big mistake to put the race at 3pm, big mistake ," he said. "I talked with Jack before talking to you, I felt very bad for him and said 'Jack, you lost temperature in the front when you were in P1 alone?' and he said yes. "So it was clear, yeah it was his mistake but in this case, I would crash the same.

The Man Utd coach who will take suspended Erik ten Hag's place in dugout vs Everton

Image
Erik ten Hag's touchline suspension for Manchester United's Premier League clash with Everton means a different face will be more prominent in the dugout on Sunday afternoon. The Dutchman has been booked in Game s against Tottenham, Arsenal and Luton Town, meaning he will have to watch on from the stands at Goodison Park as his side attempt to navigate a cauldron of hate provoked by a recent ten-point penalty. Instead, Ten Hag confirmed assistant coach Mitchell van der Gaag will step in as his replacement while he takes things in from above and reiterated his belief and confidence in his backroom staff, which also includes former England manager Steve McClaren. He said in his pre-match press conference: "I'm quite confident. I will have an even better overview [from the stands], but we have a very good backroom staff. "They are very capable and experienced, so they know what to do. That will not affect our Game ." Ten Hag won't be on the touchline / Jam

Every year on November 25th, fans of the British television show Red Dwarf celebrate Gazpacho Soup Day. Marquez "cannot try any crazy things" in final weekend as Honda MotoGP rider

Image
The six-time premier class champion departs the Japanese manufacturer at the end of this weekend , joining Gresini Ducati for 2024 alongside brother Alex. The move, confirmed in October, ends Marquez's 11-year stay with the team, where he won all his titles with 59 race wins and 101 podiums. The Spanish rider has endured a difficult four seasons after a season-ending injury at the 2020 Spanish GP, returning in 2021 before suffering a second bout of diplopia later that year. Marquez missed a further grand prix last year because of the same issue, and has had ongoing struggles with Honda's RC213V. Though he admits he "would like" a fairytale farewell from the team, Marquez accepts he "needs to be realistic" heading into the weekend. Asked what was possible to say goodbye in the best possible way, he said: "I don't know, it's a circuit that I like, it's a layout that I like, but the last races have been strug

Bagnaia "angry" after points gap to Martin narrows in Qatar MotoGP sprint

Image
The reigning world champion came to Qatar with a chance of wrapping up the 2023 crown in the grand prix, if he was able to outscore Pramac rival Martin by 23 point s across both races. However, after Martin won the sprint and Bagnaia could only manage fifth as he battled a lack of rear grip, the gap between the pair is only seven point s and the title fight will go to the finale in Valencia next week. Bagnaia said he had a feeling with his Ducati ahead of the sprint that made him think he could fight for the victory, but instead found himself “struggling to have normal pace”. “Honestly, all the weekend I was having a different feeling – a feeling to consider our potential for a victory,” he said. “But then in the race, as soon as I started, my feeling was different. “I was struggling a lot to push, I was struggling a lot to have a normal pace – something I was showing already this morning, with some consistency. “So, I’m quite angry with what happen

National Button Day (November 16th)

Image
Quick facts When is it? Every November 16th Tagged as Clothing Items & Things What's the hashtag? #NationalButtonDay Who founded it? National Button Society Have we missed something? The appeal of buttons is clear. They come in every shape, color and style, from pearly white shirt buttons, to ornate Victorian affairs, to cute fastenings shaped like insects and Animals . Any outfit can be updated by adding the right buttons, and sewing them on is one of the easiest types of needlework to learn. And they don’t just belong near buttonholes, either. Clusters of buttons can be used to decorate almost everything, and even on their own in jars they are delightful to handle, play with and admire. Some collect them, but most just lose them. Regardless, nearly everyone seems to love them, or at least regard them with fascination. In case you may be thinking that buttons do not deserve their own holiday, try to imagine what life would be like without them. Sure, we ha
