Thanks to recent advances in artificial intelligence, tools that can create lifelike photos, video and audio are now cheap and readily available WASHINGTON -- Computer engineers and tech-inclined political scientists have warned for years that cheap, powerful artificial intelligence tools would soon allow anyone to create fake images, video and audio that was realistic enough to fool voters and perhaps sway an election. The synthetic images that emerged were often crude, unconvincing and costly to produce, especially when other kinds of misinformation were so inexpensive and easy to spread on social media. The threat posed by AI and so-called deepfakes always seemed a year or two away. No more. Sophisticated generative AI tools can now create cloned human voices and hyper-realistic images, videos and audio in seconds, at minimal cost. Two key signings were what prompted Flavio Briatore to tell Fernando Alonso to join the Aston Martin Formula 1 team, he has revealed. Former Benetton and Renault boss Briatore is currently Alonso's manager - with the Spaniard claiming his two world titles under the Italian in 2005 and 2006. After returning to Grand Prix racing in 2021 with Alpine, Alonso elected to jump ship for 2023, joining Aston Martin to replace the retiring Sebastian Vettel. He has enjoyed a strong start to the season, claiming four third places and a fourth from the opening five rounds to have 75 points, including the points from the sprint race in Azerbaijan. In 2022, Alonso scored 81 points all season, and is currently on course to hit three figures for the first time since his final Ferrari season in 2014. And Briatore has explained how two important signings were the catalyst for the move. Viewed by others: ...

West Ham United remain interested in signing Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City, 90min understands, and are also eyeing team-mate Kyle Walker. The 27-year-old joined City from Leeds last summer , penning a six-year contract, but has made just eight substitute appearances under Pep Guardiola - the equivalent of 3% of the minutes available to him this season. A shoulder injury did rule Phillips out of action for just shy of two months prior to the World Cup, but Rodri's place at the base of midfield hasn't really come under threat at any point. 90min revealed at the end of March that Phillips is contemplating his future at City, who are chasing a third successive Premier League title under Guardiola. West Ham are known admirers of Phillips and made a cheeky bid to sign him towards the end of the 2022 January transfer window - when he was still a Leeds player. That bid was turned down, as was an offer for team-mate Raphinha, but Phillips has remained on West Ham's radar ...
