The Los Angeles Dodgers will host the Miami Marlins for game one of their three-game set this Friday from Dodger Stadium.

Marlins Preview & Projected Starter

Miami moved to 62-57 after taking two of three from New York. The Marlins bounced back over the weekend to win both contests, and they’ll look to avoid dropping a fourth straight game one here. Miami offense is scoring 4.02 runs per game, while batting .260, with a .321 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.10 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP.

Sandy Alcantara (5-10, 4.09 ERA, 135 Ks) will take the mound for Miami. The reigning Cy Young winner responded to a loss in Texas with a complete Game gem against the Yankees at home, striking out ten through the full nine innings, while holding them to just one run. Alcantara dealt with a lot of bad calls in that matchup, but he stuck through to remind us just how dominant he can be when dialed in. Alcantara has pitched better since the start of July, delivering quality starts in five of his previous eight outings, but he will face a stiff test in LA with this hot Dodgers lineup.

Marlins Player Trends & Props

Luis Arraez has totaled multiple bases in three of the last five games, and he’s leading the majors in batting (.361) and hits (164), with 58 RBI.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. has collected a hit in four of the previous six  games, and he’s posting splits of .246/11/25 through 59 games.

Jorge Soler has collected a hit in eight of the previous ten games, and he leads Miami in home runs (28) and RBI (62).

Bryan De La Cruz has recorded a hit in seven of the last ten Games, and he’s second on the team in both categories with sixteen home runs and 62 runs batted in.

Dodgers Preview & Projected Starter

Los Angeles moved to 74-46 after sweeping Milwaukee. The Dodgers snuck out of game three with a 1-0 victory, and they’ll now look to win their thirteenth straight game. The Los Angeles offense is scoring 5.04 runs per game, while batting .248, with a .330 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.50 ERA, with a 1.28 WHIP.

Tony Gonsolin (8-4, 4.24 ERA, 80 Ks) will get the call for Los Angeles. The fifth-year righty came through with a strong outing against Colorado last time out, striking out six thru six innings of work, while holding their division foes to just one run en route to his eighth victory. That’s three straight victories for Gonsolin to open the season, and it looks like the former 16-game winner is finding that spark he had last season. A fourth straight victory here would be nice for Gonso, and he’ll look to avoid reverting back to his July form here versus Miami.

Dodgers Player Trends & Props

Freddie Freeman is uncharacteristically hitless in four of his last five Games, but he still leads the Dodgers in BA (.335) hits (16”), and RBI (83), with 23 homers.

Mookie Betts has multiple hits in five straight Games, and he leads LAD in home runs (31), with 81 RBI, while batting .295.

J.D. Martinez returned the lineup in the Milwaukee series, and produced a pair of runs to bring his splits to .258/25/78.

Amed Rosario has produced a run in three of the previous five Games, and he’s batting .264, with 52 RBI for the season.

Corey’s Free Pick

Los Angeles just keeps on rolling, and even with them facing another strong arm here with Sandy Alcantara, and their best player Freddie Freeman struggling at the plate, I’m comfortable riding with them during this stretch. Miami possesses the firepower to end this winning streak this weekend, but I believe in the momentum built by LAD, and a thirteenth straight win is within reach. Another gem from Sandy would be nice to see, but this lineup will be very hard to keep down. Let’s back the Dodgers to take game one Friday.
