Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Dazzling stretch continues for Drouin

Colorado Avalanche winger Jonathan Drouin is in the midst of a prolonged heater with 20 points — and seven goals — across his past 21 games. He’s only missed the scoresheet in five of the highlighted games and has been primarily skating with stars Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen in all offensive situations.

The trio have clicked for an elite 7.53 goals per 60 minutes, and Drouin’s ice time is up to 20:26 per night during the surge compared to 14:29 through the first 26 games of the season. Additionally, the New York Rangers are starting backup goalie Jonathan Quick, and captain Jacob Trouba is serving a two-game suspension.

I don’t think Quick starting and Trouba being out of the lineup are priced in enough. That's why I value these Jonathan Drouin odds.

Jonathan Drouin prop: Over 0.5 points (-125 at Bet99)

Prop bet #2: Saves in bunches for Sorokin

The New York Islanders allow the second-most shots per game (34.9) and the Toronto Maple Leafs register the seventh most (33.1). Toronto also finished with 35 shots and Isles No. 1 goalie Ilya Sorokin made 32 saves for a 4-3 win the last time these two teams met.

I’m anticipating the Maple Leafs taking advantage of their possession advantage again on Monday. New York ranks 27th in Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5, and Toronto has the advantage of last change to find favorable on-ice matchups.

Additionally, I value these Ilya Sorokin odds because he has statistical correction ahead of his .909 SV% after posting a .924 mark across 114 appearances over the past two years.

Ilya Sorokin prop: Over 30.5 saves (-120 at Bet99)

Prop bet #3: Backing Brock

Islanders center Brock Nelson paces the club in shots (10.83) and attempts (18.4) per 60 minutes, and he’s cleared this 2.5-shot total in six of his past seven games. Monday’s matchup with the Maple Leafs could be sneaky favorable, too.

The Maple Leafs will be without glue guys Calle Jarnkrok (hand) and David Kampf (undisclosed), and the two forwards will be missed in the bottom six, especially while shorthanded.

While Nelson projects to spend most of his night matched up against one of Toronto’s top lines, the Maple Leafs will be more susceptible with Jarnkrok and Kampf sidelined.

I have Nelson projected for 3.11 shots against Toronto on Monday. We’re also landing a good price here. The Brock Nelson odds to go Over 2.5 shots are -143 through Caesars.

Brock Nelson prop: Over 2.5 shots (-135 at Bet99)
